I’m an environmental landscape painter working in mixed media. My work focuses on nature’s power to renew itself…and also to renew us. Our health as humans is connected to the health of our natural world. I strive to show the strength and perseverance of nature while questioning the balance of our own presence.

Working intuitively, I build the surface layers with paper and paint, then sand, letting the process be as evolving as the landscapes I’m drawn to. Often starting with a recycle map, I apply thick textures and atmospheric layers to capture nature in a state of change. Like roots, roads, or veins of the earth, tiny map lines add pattern, rhythm, energy…and an important layer of symbolism. Only visible when viewed up close, the traces of maps invite deeper exploration. The map symbolizes our connection to the natural environment, a reminder that we are a part of it and are responsible for caring for it.
